Chapter Twelve

Hera tried to ease away from the stranger setting off all of her instincts in ways she didn’t want to admit to. Syrn held onto her. “You are very small. How does Misker fit? I assume his protective attitude means that he is the father and not the other.”

She paused her growling. “His precum is lube.”

Syrn chuckled. “I see.”

“You don’t, and count yourself lucky. It would make missions terrifying.” She eased a few inches away, but he wasn’t letting go. He absently pulled her back against him.

She looked to Misker. “Can you give me a hand here?”

“Why? I asked Syrn here to help keep an eye on you. I am needed to destroy some of the incoming Uraddan vessels. I will be back in a day or two.”

“Uh, okay. I will just go back to Z-Corp and re-qualify after my medical issues.”

“Your appointment is tomorrow morning?” Syrn asked. His voice had a strange lilting accent that was really nice to listen to.

“Uh, yeah.”

“I will be escorting you to anywhere you need to go for anything you need to do.”

“Cool. Target range at noon. Nice.”

Salat perked up. “Which range? Your shirts are out at the Dekkor range.”

“My... What now?” She stared at Salat.

“The shirts with your comic character on them. Complete with black and purple power emanations.” Salat gave an evil grin. “They are selling them online as well.”

Meemer scrambled and brought up the Dekkor practice range. The images of the angel, Khytten, and Salat, as well as Dr. Torenne, were the first ones, but then came the new design with the word Blackout underneath.

“Oh, gods.” She covered her face.

The schoolgirl outfit was depicted faithfully, her hair was a wild halo, and one leg was up and bent, making the skirt furl dangerously close to indecency. Her fists were purple and black, and so were her eyes. She was also obviously flying.

Skiera stared. “Heraina, you posed for that?”

“Yes and no. Dr. Torenne had the outfit made for me, so I had to put it on. It was also my only option. The posing was necessary.” She pointed at Salat. “He drew it.”

Skiera scowled at him.

Hera used her pointing finger. “Misker’s mom.”

Salat winced and then grinned. “Ah. Well, my mom can beat up his mom.”

Hera snickered.

Skiera blinked. “Who is his mother?”

Hera grinned. “Titanium.”

Syrn chuckled. “She’s a lovely lady, and her husband throws an amazing dinner party.”

Misker nodded. “He’s not wrong.”

Salat grinned.

Hera looked at Salat. “Don’t you have babies to juggle? Like five of them?”

“Khytten doesn’t let me juggle them anymore. It makes them motion sick.” He smirked in a cocky manner.

Misker grinned, blurred, and came back in a heavily armoured suit. He walked over and pulled Hera away from Syrn. “Be good. Be safe and be warm. I will be back in a few days.”

Syrn said, “I will take good care of her.”

Salat snickered again.

Hera pointed toward the door. “Thank you for the clothing... now out!”

He blew her a kiss and headed out the door. When he was on the other side, she muttered, “He was never so cocky before he got laid.
