Chapter Twelve
Hera tried to ease away from the stranger setting off all of her instincts in ways she didnât want to admit to. Syrn held onto her. âYou are very small. How does Misker fit? I assume his protective attitude means that he is the father and not the other.â
She paused her growling. âHis precum is lube.â
Syrn chuckled. âI see.â
âYou donât, and count yourself lucky. It would make missions terrifying.â She eased a few inches away, but he wasnât letting go. He absently pulled her back against him.
She looked to Misker. âCan you give me a hand here?â
âWhy? I asked Syrn here to help keep an eye on you. I am needed to destroy some of the incoming Uraddan vessels. I will be back in a day or two.â
âUh, okay. I will just go back to Z-Corp and re-qualify after my medical issues.â
âYour appointment is tomorrow morning?â Syrn asked. His voice had a strange lilting accent that was really nice to listen to.
âUh, yeah.â
âI will be escorting you to anywhere you need to go for anything you need to do.â
âCool. Target range at noon. Nice.â
Salat perked up. âWhich range? Your shirts are out at the Dekkor range.â
âMy... What now?â She stared at Salat.
âThe shirts with your comic character on them. Complete with black and purple power emanations.â Salat gave an evil grin. âThey are selling them online as well.â
Meemer scrambled and brought up the Dekkor practice range. The images of the angel, Khytten, and Salat, as well as Dr. Torenne, were the first ones, but then came the new design with the word Blackout underneath.
âOh, gods.â She covered her face.
The schoolgirl outfit was depicted faithfully, her hair was a wild halo, and one leg was up and bent, making the skirt furl dangerously close to indecency. Her fists were purple and black, and so were her eyes. She was also obviously flying.
Skiera stared. âHeraina, you posed for that?â
âYes and no. Dr. Torenne had the outfit made for me, so I had to put it on. It was also my only option. The posing was necessary.â She pointed at Salat. âHe drew it.â
Skiera scowled at him.
Hera used her pointing finger. âMiskerâs mom.â
Salat winced and then grinned. âAh. Well, my mom can beat up his mom.â
Hera snickered.
Skiera blinked. âWho is his mother?â
Hera grinned. âTitanium.â
Syrn chuckled. âSheâs a lovely lady, and her husband throws an amazing dinner party.â
Misker nodded. âHeâs not wrong.â
Salat grinned.
Hera looked at Salat. âDonât you have babies to juggle? Like five of them?â
âKhytten doesnât let me juggle them anymore. It makes them motion sick.â He smirked in a cocky manner.
Misker grinned, blurred, and came back in a heavily armoured suit. He walked over and pulled Hera away from Syrn. âBe good. Be safe and be warm. I will be back in a few days.â
Syrn said, âI will take good care of her.â
Salat snickered again.
Hera pointed toward the door. âThank you for the clothing... now out!â
He blew her a kiss and headed out the door. When he was on the other side, she muttered, âHe was never so cocky before he got laid.
